Schmancy, a Bengaluru based startup, provides packaging solutions to the suppliers and customers. It was officially founded in 2016 by Mr Nikhil Parekh with a thought to ensure a sustainable packaging solution was floating in his mind since 2013.
The packaging provided by Schmancy is made up of recycled papers. It is mainly used for two categories of items – food and goods. The packaging used for food is made from paper, and this packaging is FSSAI (Food Safety and Standards Authority of India) certified. Recycled paper board is used to make boxes for goods. All these products used in the making are FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified. This signifies it has been responsibly produced.
Packaging solutions given by Schmancy are suitable for food boxes and also can hold liquid products. The startup also has an online presence for people willing to buy designer packaging. Once the customer places an order, it is shipped in 7-10 days. Tall Cake Boxes are their exclusive selling products.
In the process, Schmancy has faced many challenges. Nikhil says that making people aware of different types of papers and the importance of buying from reliable sources was the biggest hurdle they faced and are still facing. There were some setbacks in the journey, but Schmancy faced it. Today they are supplying products to some of the big players in the market.
The major players in the Schmancy’s client list consist of Hatti Kappi, SodaBottleOpenerWala, Chai point, Buttercups, Hoopos, Turms and home-based bakers across India.
The founder of Schmancy believes that the mixture of four parameters – design, quality, quantity and service sets Schmancy apart from the rest of the players in the market. When the design is excellent, then it is not present in the right quantity. When their available amount is low, then the plans and service are not great. The focus on all four factors is essential to keep up with the business.
